Spring Conferences Highlight Changes in Field of Expense Management

When SAP acquired Concur last year to the tune of $8.3 billion, it rocked the world of expense management. Now, as Concur emerges from its recent Sapphire NOW conference, held in Orlando, we are beginning to gain a glimpse of just how the expense management industry may be impacted by such an acquisition. The event, hosted by SAP, included a press conference as well as a financial analyst and investor conference. Among the topics discussed during the event was “How SAP Is Accelerating Internet of Things Adoption for Customers.” Following on the heels of the Sapphire NOW event, those in the expense management field can anticipate hearing quite a bit more about business networks. While the acquisition of Concur was certainly the largest such pickup by SAP, it is not the only such acquisition. SAP has also recently acquired a labor management vendor, as well as spend management vendor Ariba.

Moving forward, SAP CEO Steve Singh has indicated that we can expect to see the company working to connect its various networks in order to deliver the highest level of value to SAP customers. Overall, the goal is to deliver a greater level of business synergy. These are all topics that SAP chose to highlight during its recent conference. The firm’s “Run Simple” business motto was on clear display during the keynote address, including encouraging the audience to embrace a new Simple as a Service business model. Running business on a single platform within real time and on any device via S/4HANA was just one of the announcements made during Sapphire NOW. SAP’s acquisition of Concur was also highlighted during the conference, thus giving SAP the ability to connect all of its networks inside as well as outside the SAP ecosystem.

Groundbreaking New App Introduced During SuiteWorld 2015

In other news, financial management solutions firm Nexonia sponsored NetSuite’s SuiteWorld 2015, an annual user conference for industry partners and customers held earlier this month. The event, one of the largest of its kind in the world, brought together thousands of attendees who shared best practices regarding how to optimize leading cloud-based business management solutions. Among the announcements made during SuiteWorld 2015 was the introduction of NetSuite for Android. As the first end-to-end cloud business management mobile app, the new product gives professionals on the go a unified system for handling anything at any time and in any location. Capabilities offered in the app include full record support for creating, editing, deleting, and viewing expense reports and more. Users can also track and approve expense reports more quickly and easily with the new app.
